David got a chance to go to West Point in New York City and help train the cadets while they are at the annual summer camp. He left in the middle of May and probably won't be back until the middle of August. This is the longest we've ever been apart, and I don't know about him, but I could possibly go crazy. We get to talk just about everyday and I know he is busy busy busy and his allergies are usually out of control. But it sounds like he's enjoying himself and time is going by pretty quickly for him. And it's absolutely gorgeous up there and someone is crazy jealous. (Me.)

While David knew that he would be leaving for New York, he had his fingers crossed that he wouldn't leave until June. His parents had planned a trip down here for Memorial Day and it was going to be the first time that his mom had ever gone to Texas! So when David got the official dates, it was pretty rough for all of them to know that he wasn't going to be here when they were. And I was pretty stressed about being able to show them a good time without him.
One of the best things to do with my in-laws is to party. So the first day they were here, we did just that. There is a place in Killeen called Daiquiri Express and it is pretty much a drive-thru bar. They sell any kind of drink that you can imagine and you can have it put in a tank, which is as big as a fishbowl. They are my favorite!!! So of course, we got those tanks refilled a few times. :) About three days into their trip though, John started to not feel too great so we decided to take it easy for the day. While channel surfing, I discovered that there wasn't anything on TV, so I figured I would introduce them to our favorite series. Sons of Anarchy. I knew they would like it...but they automatically fell in love! I can't say I blame them, because it is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. So our one day of relaxation turned into three as we watched the first two seasons. :) But I figured that staying in the apartment all day wasn't giving them a full experience of Texas, so we of course went around post and to all the museums and what-not (which Cindy was in awe of) and then we drove to Austin to visit the "capital of the Lone Star state!!"
Seeing the capital was pretty exciting for me also. I've seen the capital of Colorado and I have obviously seen the capital of Idaho but I hadn't seen the capital of Texas yet!! And with Texas being a gigantic state, I figured the capital would be too. It is. It's really old, really huge, and really, really beautiful.
All in all, I'm pretty positive they enjoyed themselves. Of course it would've been better if David had been here to enjoy it too, but we will make sure that he will be home next time!!
As for the rest of the summer, I'm going to do a little bit of traveling. I leave for Denver next week which I am sooooo excited about!! And then I'll be heading to Boise with my mom and brother for about eight days. I can not wait. I feel like it's been forever since I've been home...and it kind of has been!! It will be a great time and I probably won't want to come back to Texas but Hubby will be closer to coming home...and I seriously can't wait for that. :)
